MATT BLACK
« on: 05 January 2010, 04:06 »
Hi guys,
I have seen this in www.avus-performance.com (German car's tuner). They offer this "matt black" finish on their car. They have done it on a TTRS & it looks real mean. Cost is Euro 2,000. Can anybody tell me what is this "matt black" finish & is it some sort of vinyl coating on it? Maintenance wise, is it a pain?
Appreciate very much for your input & have a nice day to you all!

Looking at the website I think it is a vinyl wrap. Especially when you look at the cost. As for maintenance I don't know. IMO I think it looks awful.

It is vinyl wrap and it does look awful. Why would you want to spend £2000 making your car look like a blackboard?

They get the matt finish by adjusting the  amount and type of lacquer the put on to car after the final paint is applied

I can think of so many better things to spend £2k on but if you like the finish then go for it. Each to their own and all that, I think its horid . .
