BOOT LIGHT
« on: 18 October 2004, 15:36 »
Hey guys

Have just bought new parcel shelf assembly cos my old was knackered. As a result I now have a boot light!

Only prob is I have not the first clue about wiring things and was wondering if anyone knew what you wire it to?

Spoke to a mate but the way he suggested I'd have to have the sidelights on! But I want it it to come on when I open the boot regardless!

Cheers!
Ruuss

in which case you just need a fused constant 12v live and an earth. the earth is just below the mount bit its behind the trim panel where the first aid kit holder goes. for a live just get a multimeter and find a constant live

Assumiong you have the loom with the light, it's easy! It literally plugs in to the existing plug behind the panel! Really couldn't be easier.

Take yourself to a scrapyard, find a Golf with a boot light. All you need are: the pin switch, just unscrews and pulls out. Then you need the two wires coming from the back of the light, which go along to the switch, and then to a two pin connector. Then, go home, cut a hole in the shelf for the switch (unless its there already) and plug the connector into the connetor thats already there. When you get the loom from the scrap car, have a look at the plug, so you recognise it on your car!!

MAke sense???

If your not used to having a boot light, i'd say when you put it in, you'll be pleasently surprised!! I was!
