front strut brace

was looking at getting a front strut brace for my mk3 20vt to try and reduce torque steer and tighten up the front end.

just wanted to know if its worth the hassle?

mmm you can pick them up for around £30, and say 30mins/1 hour to fit.

might be worth it, but wouldnt the subframe and front crossmember and the steel bumper bar do a similar thing?

The strut brace is to keep the two turrets braced and stop the front end twisting as much. They do work and make turn in a bit sharper but you're not going to be stunned by the difference. They work best in combination with poly bushes, seam welded wishbones, lower strut brace, good suspension etc Each of those adds a bit more to the handling but on their own make only a small difference.

its fully polybushed with coilies. just wondered if i could reduce torque steer. might put it on, sounds like the money time are probably worth it.

The only thing that really reduces torque steer is an LSD.

Also might be worth saving up for a better set of coilovers.

Get some half decent tyres on and get it aligned somewhere proper.

Then talk to us about torque steer and whether you need a strut brace.
