My golf has begun to make a wierd noise. As im driving along, i can hear a kind of quiet, soft thumping/scraping noise - im not sure where from though and passengers say they can feel a vibration in their footwell. From the drivers side, I cant feel anything odd and the car still drives great. The noise gets quicker as the car does - its not very loud at all, you can only hear it when the radio is low.
I took it to the dealer but they didnt have time to take it round the block, but the engineer said it was probably a gear box bearing. Does this sound right and is it a big job? - Anyone else had a similar problem like this before?
