Its like paying someone to come and smash all the crockery in your house.  Madness.
Yes that’s your opinion mine is different. I will pick it up with the protection and then give it two coats of Colinite.
I have used a safe guard paint protector on other cars and it works well. However I would not pay over one hundred and fifty pounds.
Lets be honest no one is going to drive away a brand new car with swirl marks on it.

Good luck.

Most dealer valeters that I know of are only on just above minimum wage and get no sort of training in how to prepare cars. They are expected to clean 2-3 cars a day, so I would never expect standards to be very high.

Often dealers will get contract valeters in when they are pushed and pay them £30 per car. You can just imagine what sort of mess they make.

Given the choice, I'd take delivery of my new cars with all the transit proctetion in place.

Hello captain!! I have been to many dealers around London and looked at there forcourts at some of the detailing jobs they have done!! I saw a GTD170 on the forcourt carbon grey 59 late brand new and it had swirl marks on it over the bonnet? I pointed this out to the salesmen he just shrugged his shoulders must have been one of the valeters that did it? That car was sold next day gone with the paintwork damaged (it happens all the time)

That last post about sums it up. Probably 80% of customers wouldn't notice, so the dealers obviously aren't that bothered.

Oh dear. Search this forum as someone rejected their car because of this very reason. Although it also transpired the paint was faulty but certainly highlighted through the garages prep work.

At the end of the day you are giving someone £150 to use what is probably oily rags to slap a £20 product on.

I'd personally rather give the money to one of these guys http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=129

Tried to sell it me too when I bought my MKV GTI last week...it's half the price on the www (as is the GAP insurance they tried too) but personally I think it's a waste of money, a good polish now & again has the same effect.

On dealers looking after car paintwork I was driving past a Renault "Lookers" dealer yesterday & they were using a sweeping brush to get the snow off the cars on the forecourt
