anyone running stretched tyres daily?
« on: 02 January 2010, 19:12 »
i have a set of mims 1900 wheels on my golf, 15x7 with et of 13, i want to drop it a bit as its on coil overs, but there isnt enough arch room, i have 195 50 15 atm, which the fronts need doing, the only way i think i can get clearance is to run a 165 50 15 in a bridgestone, i was looking at some 195 45 15 but i still dont think it will give much clearance, i no most people hate tyre strecth for safety issues etc, but im just curios if anyones running them dailey with no issues, i only use the car for a 2 mile commute during the week and the odd weekend blast which is hard round here living next to 2 police stations and military police

heres a pic of a 15x7 wheel with the same tyre. thanks all

i used to run 195's on a 9" daily for a while, never had any police trouble, but the car handled like crap, especially in the rain.

Rolled arches with the mims and 45 profiles should see you ok i would have thought?

Military Police???

Tell em to mind their own business!!!

Unless ur in the forces that is!!!!

I live on RAF Valley, we have MP's patrolling our estate, but they can't touch civilians.  However i like the fact that they patrol our estate so i've never minded, and never given them grief!

i live on an army estate so there always about, i dont really want to roll the arches, and they would still rub on the rears over bumps. got a quote for 4 tyres all bridgestone for 140 fitted + vat, and theve got one of them compressors to bang them on, the car really needs lowering to set it off as it already looks wide due to the offset of the wheels.

I've run slight stretch on my tyres for over a year now and had now problems.

Even got pulled over for my number plates and they didn't say a thing about my stretched tyres.

I'm runnnin 195-40-16 on 8"rims but my mk2 is not a daily and if it was then I don't think I could live with having stretched Tyres, you have to be so much more aware of pot holes and curbs, plus it's a very hard ride, looks the absolute nuts tho!  but I woulndt say sensible for a daily car

walk you lazy git!

Alternatively, fit G60 arches and 45 profile tyres.  50 profile looks like balloons imo.

4 miles of walking is quite a lot.

Get a bike, you lazy git!

Stretch - clearly for the ghey.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
