Im not relying on 1 review,  this car is a S3 and the person who reviewed it might like how S3's drive, i don't. So i want more reviews and a drive before i make up my mind because at this moment i just cannot see how much different it is going to drive to a S3. I hope im proven wrong.

Sounds good so far... but I'd like to see a few more reviews too.
I'll pick up a copy of Revo when I get home and have a read.
I'm currently in Tenerife paying O2 £3 per MB for the privilege of browsing on my phone!!

I can easily see how it will drive differently...
The 8L S3 was a slug - but the same platform with better damping and different sized ARBs cured it (Mk4 R32).
So ditch the hard as hell dampers the S3 has, I thought I'd read somewhere about a different steering rack too, and play with ARB sizes...and transform the car from numb, to alive.
It doesn't take much...the 8P S3 lads can transform their cars pretty easily with fairly basic bolt one...but you shouldn't have to. It should be done by the factory...maybe this time VW have done exactly that.

If VW *HAVE* done that...made a 4WD, more powerful, more focussed GTI...I'll be looking to see what Kidneys are fetching nowadays!

Of course its easy to change handling steering etc, im concerned with the low down lag (compared to a gti) and the general boring driving of the S3, plus despite loosing the V6 its still a lardy arse

I think it's safe to say the engine is as S3...and with a K04 vs K03 in the GTI, there will always be more lag - VW can't defy physics!
I don't think it's obtrusive on the S3...you just get used to it.

Sure, the S3 is a bit boring...if the chassis is set up better, it'll rectify most of that.
The rest, a nice man at Revo/Superchips/Custom code etc will make good in around 20 mins....if that's your thing.

REVO DSG map will sort that out

possibly but it's a shame to invalidate your warranty on your new £35+K car....

Obviously the EVO author might not be a fan of DSG in general... So biased review

You call it bias, I call it talking sense. DSG is for f**kin taxi driving homo's.

In that case only you should have one then!

Is it lag - as in additional turbo lag?
Or lag, as in the s3 has to 'waste' more driving the drivetrain and then hauling it's 100+KG heavier ass up to speed?
It could be a function of both of the latter...

I remember Ed30s feeling really light and on their toes as they didn't have to lug about as much weight, nor lost as much through the transimssion...it almost felt like they came 'on boost' earlier?
