I'm sooo desperate!
« on: 17 October 2004, 21:30 »
Hi Guys
I've been having probs with my gearbox for a while and it's becoming an enigma as to whats wrong!!
Basically it's a G60 lump with corrado cable box, it goes into gear when swithced off but not when it's running. Have set the alignment with that little tool thing, replaced clutch, master & slave cyclinder and the b**tard still won't work. Trouble is, if you put her in gear and start her up she can be driven but the gear can't be changed??!!

Any thoughts would be most appreciated as the next step will be to replace the box and my piggy bank is squealing at that thought :(

Cheers

does the corrado box have the same finger to operate the clutch as a golf box ?

ifso I'd check that

Not sure (I've not too technical knowledge on this) my mech was talking about something within the box that may not be (dis)engaging? I got a bit lost with what he was saying :-[) but I assume he would have to strip ( the box before u say it) to check. ???

the finger is easy enough to check/change
there should be a green cap on the end of the gearbox under the passenger side chassis leg
the cover is just a tap in fit and lever out carefully if you want to reuse it

but can you see the clutch arm or what ever the slave cylinder is attached to moveing when the clutch is pressed and released ?

it sounds like you are not getting full travel on the clutch hance you can't get it in gear when its running
