I can put you in touch with someone who can supply and fit the correct hardware & remap for what you are looking for. I think you will need bigger injectors too, so it's best to get your research done before you decide on your next step.

He has done quite a few larger turbo upgrades and has just finished a 300+ bhp conversion on a 1.9tdi.

PM me if you want his details.

i was hoping that the 170 turbo would just be plug and play, i would have gone for that if it was. i dont want to get to deep into. so i think ill just go for the remap. im sure ill be more than happy with that.

thanks for your help though people

Is that a VW engine then? 170bhp TDI  = 2.0  :nerd:

Oops, you're right, I think it is an early 2ltr engine - it's on a 55 plate A3

doesn't happen to be a Black 3 door Quattro Audi either??

I know of one which is running NOS, wather meth injection and a big huge ass turbo..........running approx 350ish bhp and 400lbs gt torque i think

Yes, same car, but this turbo is much bigger (and replaces the twin sequential setup).

Sorry for going off topic :(

thought it might have been - going for 400bhp isn't he?

Don't worry about going off topic - happens all the time

With regards to the OP, I'm not up to speed on the MK5 diesel engines but on the MK4 I know that the 150bhp turbo was a direct fit to the 130bhp engine so you'd only need the mapping to see it running tidy

A number of 130bhp TDI's are running a hybrid (uprated) version of the 150bhp turbo's and seeing a minimum of 230bhp and 350lbs ft toque

Following that logic I would have thought a 170bhp turbo would be a direct fit to the 140bhp engine

Does your 140bhp have the DPF fitted or are you one of the lucky ones that don't?  Either way a decat downpipe will help free up some mid range grunt and help increase average power across the rev range making for a much quicker car

Also remember that the 140 is a PD and the 170 is a common rail diesel, so they will have different fuelling maps altogether

early ones where PD, newer ones are common rail think vw dropped the PD engines in 2007

The 2.0 litre engines are all common rail, so the OP's 140 would be common rail. The other mk5 diesels were the 90, 110 and maybe (not sure) 130 1.9 PD engines.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

DPF? Whats that? And how would i find out if it has or not?
