no spark from dizzy,

hello can any one help my mk1 gti packed up other day cut out, rang AA they came out changed coil ignition plug still no spark i had previously changed ht leads plugs and other day dizzy no spark, has a imobiliser ?
can any one help

is it not the small module located in the passenger scuttle!!??!!  :undecided:

ye i know what you mean the ignition plug the AA bloke tried a new one cheers for your help :smiley:

ye he tried that and ive changed spark plugs ht leads and tried a diferent dizzy but no spark. is it to old to have a ecu ?

well im certain that module is the only ecu on the car!! i know the mk3 golf's suffer from that and the amplifier!! it sounds like you may have an immobiliser fault, cos theres not much to the ignition system if u have replaced all the vital components :rolleyes:

i have an imobiliser on it i will try to disconect it fingers crossed its that  :smiley: thanks for your help cheers

yh all the best!! i remeber when i was working on mine b4 summer i disconnected the alarm to get around it done the job and it wouldnt start no spark.. i spent ages going over it nd then realised that i hadnt reconnected the alarm  :grin:

It sounds like it's the Hall sender switch,which is the plug by the dizzy cap unplug it and give it a good clean with a tooth brush as it does go green!! give it a go if that fails it could be the dizzy is dead..

check you get 12v to the black wires on the coil both with ignition on and while cranking. if that checks out have a good look at the hall sensor wiring and plug, can get damaged or full of oil which doesnt help it. clean the dizzy and look over the loom for any patches that look 'repaired' could have a break here.

oh and there should be an earth from the ignition module to the battery -ve, make sure thats not snapped off.
