Some advice needed on my 1.8t

I thought from the min to the max on the dip stick was around a litre of oil so if your using around a quarter of a litre a month, I would say that is reasonable on a car with that mileage. Turbo cars will always use some oil...

mine doesn't use a drop between services 

out of interest what oil are you using? 

Perhaps changing what you use might help.  I know when I tried Fuchs I had to top upbut since going back to the VW brand stuff it doesn't use a drop between services

Mine doesn't use any either but my works van needs a top up from time to time.... Then again I only do 5k miles a year

Mine doesn't use any either but my works van needs a top up from time to time.... Then again I only do 5k miles a year 

I've done 15K every year for the last 4 years and Steve has done 35K in his and hasn't used a drop between services 

Our works vans have needed a slight top up but then they do 30K a year and carry a minimum of a tonne of tools and servicing items like oil etc

hmm so its not as if you're doing short journeys then

a bit of a top up on oil shouldn't be a problem have you measured the usage over a time or distance i.e 1000 miles etc is the noise your hearing the air pump that runs when the engine is cold mine's a bit noisey but i've never really bothered about it
