Beware: Rising blue = much lighter than it looks in photographs

Just saw my first Rising Blue VW: a Scirocco. 

I must admit that photographs of the Golf R in Rising Blue make the car look like a nubile Page 3 girl in a tight jumper. Unfortunately, when you see this colour in the flesh it is much lighter than it appears in pictures. it is almost an azure shade of blue rather than a mid blue. I can't say that i really like it. As has been said before, i can't help wondering if Rising Blue's popularity is merely due to its limited availability. Can't make up my mind whether I like it.

I definitely like the Carbon Grey colour very much, but this isn't available on the R. So it is down to the Black or Steel Grey. Or maybe even Shadow Blue. I wonder if the Blue Graphite is a better choice. Thoughts please.

I've seen rising blue on the Scirocco and though it looked good. A bit plainer than deep blue pearl on the R32 was though. For the Mk6 I think they should have gone with Biscay blue as on the Passat R36 and R50 Touareg.

After rising blue I'd choose steel grey or blue graphite. I reckon blue graphite will be the rare and sought after colour amongst enthusiasts in several years time.

Have you seen the pictured I took on tje race track?.. Check it and please tell me if it was like that. In Spain you can only choose between: Rising Bluer , Black , Red, White. If Rising Blue looks similar to the one somebody posted before my picture, I would change the colour buying it in Black.

Ooook, so it is not as light as the one I saw before. The one in my picture is not that light, isn´t it?

Personally, if I were going for an 'aggressive' car like the Golf R, I would opt for an understated colour like white, black, or grey. Shadow blue is a step too far, however, IMHO.

I'm pretty sure it's down the lighting. DBP could also look pretty flat in dull and artifical light conditions. In bright sunlight though, it's stunning. Rising Blue will be the same.

I think it is nice. I can see how some are worried, i would be too i suppose, but from my view, the R's going to look great in most colours
