New Toy...!!!

Hi to everyone - been on here for a while, but not posted much, as I was patiently waiting for this moment to arrive... although I have managed to learn a hell of a lot in my time lurking, so thanks to all.

Finally picked up my GTI last Tuesday (nice early Christmas prezzie to myself  ) and thought I'd share some pics of the beast. Spec isn't anything too extravegent, but it includes the things that are important to me, which I guess, is the main thing;

5-Door, DSG, Deep Black Pearl, 18" Monza Shadows, Leather, RNS-510, Cruise Control and Winter Pack (with the Fiscon BT to be added ASAP)

Anyway, here she is;

Very impressed with it so far.

I've had a BMW 530d M Sport for the last couple of years and to be honest, I was a little apprehensive about going back to a smaller car (I've had a Golf previously, a Mk4 TDi), but I need not have worried, as the GTI is one great car in it's own right, albeit very different from the BMW. To me, it seems to be a near perfect combination of refinement, handling and performance... a balance that is hard to find.

That looks very nice , got me thinking about my order now which to get black or reflex silver?? I have chosen silver becuse its easy to maintain build week 8 so should be March 10 , I live in hope??? Still have my ED30 to play around with though!! Hope you enjoy your new motor !!

I'm still not sure myself if black was the right choice - love it when it's clean, but it's a b*gger to keep it that way. Carbon Grey would've been my second (and more practical) choice, I think.

Thankfully, my mate is a valeter (the pics were taken at his workplace - hence the caravan  ) and so I'm going to have to keep buying him lunch so he stays interested in keeping my car clean!

The spec is very good too!! I didnt do leather to pricy!! Bloody cold in winter leather, but it looks good. The DSG is awsome for me thats the best option to have on the GTI. I have had manual's in the gti but in london its so much better to have (DSG) enjoy Steve

Also, what happens with the warranty when you install the Fiscon BT ?

Mine hasn't got the voice control - but it's build week was prior to Wk45... I've had to wait to collect mine until my old car went.

As far as I am aware, the warranty shouldn't really be affected, as the Fiscon unit is plug 'n' play - it would be pretty poor of VW to not honour the warranty just because some third party bit of kit has been plugged in... whatever next, would they complain if we plugged a Tom Tom ino the cigarette lighter? I've asked my dealer and he was happy enough with me adding a third party BT kit...

Are you taking part in the Fiscon group buy on 9 January ?

I wanted to, but I live near MK, so I don't really want to travel to the meet when it would be easier to just pop along to their workshop (I've already bought the unit off them, so just need it fitting). Hoping that Rich can sort something out on that front...
