Have I made the right choice?
You're posting this on a Golf forum... what do you think the answer is going to be?!?!
I suppose it depends on your circumstances. I'm guessing you live on a farm or something if you need a Range Rover?
Personally I drive to and from work all week, and like to go out for a blast at the weekends. A golf is ideal for me... I'm usually the only one in the car, its a good size for parking anywhere. Its discreet, fast, and has a good sized boot! I can get 5 people in it if I have to (not very often) and considering the performance, it gets a decent MPG. Yes the Golf R is expensive for a Golf! I could get 2 and a bit Golf 1.4TSI's for the same price. I'm sure some of the guys on here could write you a list of what else I could get from a used Porsche / BMW etc showroom!
I believe that unless you're doing offroading, then a Range Rover is a bit of a waste of time. Yes, for the 5 days a year it snows (maybe a few more this year
) its useful, but other than that its like driving a tank around. My fiancee's old man has a Merc ML63 - which is an absolute dream to drive. 0-60 in under 5 seconds and great handling. He has it for transporting around his relatives (79-92 years old and too old to scootch into a smaller car!), going to play golf, and driving to work. He gets about 200 miles from £110 of fuel! If I HAD to buy a 4x4, it would be one of these! It looks good compared to most, it sounds amazing, and its like a rocket!
I'll stick with the Golf though thanks!
Nope don't really live on a farm or anything, just seem to spend more & more on a Golf every 12-18 months & fancied a change........... The price on the R is really what pushed me.
so you cancelled the mk 5.5 and got a range rover 0.5 instead

Hilarious

But you have a point!
Don't blaim you.
I love both the golf and the range, so can understand the problem you are facing.
At least I have two supporters.......!!
Seriously though if VW hadn't pushed the R prices so high I'd have stayed, the price of the leather is disgusting

But all is not lost, tonight I have been scouring Autotrader & I have found a nice 3 door MK5 GTI which I can use as a run around alongside the rangie, based on some of the RRS reliability comments posted here tonight I may be using it more than I know!
Anyway cheers folks.........................See you in the MK5 section now or possibly any land rover garage/repair centre near you
