Hi, I'm based in Dublin and I have a problem with my MK5 GTi DSG. Theres a serious droning noise coming from the passenger side front and I've been to 4 different mechanics who all immediately said it was a wheel bearing. But when they looked at it further they all decided that they didn't know what the hell it was.. maybe the gearbox. So I took it to a gearbox specialist who doesn't think it's a problem with the gearbox! He says to leave it with him for a day and if it is the box it's going to cost €3,000 to replace!

To explain the problem in more detail: It's a droning sound that's just like a wheel bearing problem. It's worst at about 20mph and deafening when doing this speed and turning right (like around a roundabout for instance). So all 4 independent garages say it is not a wheel bearing and not the tyres.
I live right by the ferry terminal that goes to England so I was thinking I might just drive the thing over to the UK cos everything is much cheaper there and there might be a chance of finding a VW specialist.
So, can anyone recommend a specialist garage in England who knows their stuff and are not going to rip me off?
Appreciate any feedback lads cos this thing is doing my head in!

Cheers.
