« on: 22 December 2009, 11:36 »
Hi there chaps have seen a few of the Revo SPS2 Unit moving about and was wundering if you could use this with your maps or is it only compatible with Revo softwear?

As i can gather it make you swich between maps. What im not shore is does it have to be left in the port or can you plug it in swich to what every setting you want and take it out?

Very complex stuff gone in to the Revo code to make it switch with the SPS tool,   We can offer the Power gate tool to switch out remaps.

For the the TDIs we are going to start to offer vagcom map switching which we are working on now and going to trial in the new year.  Some TDis will have upto 3 map options, from basic spec1, spec1.5 or spec2 and stock map.

the powergate is the ST3, chipped uk renamed it. I got one takes about 5 mins to write a new map.
the vag-com version will require you to plug in your laptop and switch the maps

Like Steve said the ST3 unit the Aleintech powergate s tool, every tom dick and harry tuner sells them inc us. some tuners rebrand them as there own tools, we kept them blank and used the Powergate name.   The vag com way if switching the map will take second to do without the risk of locking out the ecu or having to keep emailing files off to the tuner.  The down side with the self tuning tool are there are lots of people loading maps to cars which aint in a fit state to be remapped, then causing running issues and engine problems ect...  Every car needs a proper diagnostics session prior to the remap, I turn 4 or 5 cars away every month as they are not fit to remap.

So with the vcds switch you could buy stage 1 and 2 maps at the same time, use stage1 while your fitting the parts for stage2 then once your ready you can switch to stage 2 without having to buy another remap... then the 3rd option can be for custom remapping at a later date so save money on the custom mapping.  And by having VCDS you can log the car and keep an eye on the performance and fault codes..ect

We dont do them any more we found them to be more of a gadget that was more hassle than its worth, poeple messing around with them and locking there cars out and making them non starters which meant we had to bring thwe ecu back to life.   IMO the best way to have a remap is get it carried out by a tuner, the SPS2 is a good idea as your only changing where the ecu for the map so the whole map aint changed.
