Cleaning headliner

Had some scuff marks on the headliner, tried back in the summer to clean them up but the foam cleaner and damp cloth I used left water marks.  Tried again to remove the water marks and soak up the excess, which lead to even bigger water marks 
Probably a job for the summer, but what's the definitive method for cleaning this without taking it out?

the only way to eliminate this is to get the whole headlining done with a spray extraction machine and some biobrisk, if its done properly(do not over spray the lining) it should only take a couple of hours to dry if you leave the car running with the blowers on full blast and leave the windows slightly open to allow the water vapour to escape.

"Spray extraction machine"?  Like one of those carpet cleaner machines?  Would a George (bit like a Henry vacuum) do the job if I could hire one?

Just looked up "Biobrisk" stuff, sounds serious!

So spray the Bio stuff on, suck the worst of it off with vacuum then leave it warm to dry off.

TBH I think its one for the summer now.

AG Interior Shampoo works a treat.

Spray it onto a damp micro fibre and wipe in, then dry excess off with a dry mf cloth. Dont get it too wet, and as always with AG stuff, don't use too much product.

This is the way I do it, spray on some AG interior cleaner, work it into the headlining with an interior sponge & rinse it regularly, then wipe over with a chamois, again rinse the chamois regularly, you'll see all the muck coming out, use 2 buckets or a hose for rinsing the sponge & chamois to avoid working in dirty water.  I have never used a machine to headlining on any cars I have sold.

I cleaned the headlining on mine with a Polti Vaporetto (steam cleaner).

Worked a treat, and didn't have to use any product. Just steam it to loosen the dirt and then immediately pat it dry with an absorbant cloth.

Well impressed with the results.
