bubmper smoothing

hi all ive got a mk2 gti big bumper spec and i want to smooth the bumpers.the bit i want to do is the gap between the colour coded bit and the textured part.so far ive been given filler and fibreglass as an idea.i can see filler cracking and falling out though.so maybe that ready mixed fibreglass? thanks

plastic welding is very time consuming but probably stronger, if you do use fibreglass and filler i suggest you use some real course sandpaper ie 80 or even 40 and use as little filler as possible :) you will also have to de-texture the upper part of the bumper, a lot of work! lol

Oh and by the way, score the heck out of all the bits your going to fill/fibreglass over.  The more it can grab the better it will hold.

dont use filler it cracks a lot i ruined a bumper using it....

i know someone who has used a similar product with very good results, would advise anyday over standard filler/ fibreglass! :smiley:
