Got my courtesy car this morning. An Alfa 156 2.4 GTD.... looks  drives  :undecided:

so from a FWD, manual, petrol, hatchback, with cloth, i am now in a RWD, auto, diesel, with leather....

not really like for like, so i will be going with the VW AMC instead come monday morning and hopefully they can have me back in a golf at some point. Not being fussy but I have quite a few early starts and leather is the worst thing to have, and in this freezing cold weather a RWD auto is just no fun.

So who is going to have a guess at the cost of the repair????

I will start.. £5830 + vat

WOW!
What exactly do you have to get done?  Obviously a new wing and door.  The bumper looks like it can be re-used?
Suspension?

At a guess new front bumper (as its insurance im sure they will change it)
new front wing
new front door
new rear door
sill underneath the front door
new wing mirror
2 x new monza shadow

it was only a guess but I would easily say the 5k mark. i am quite sure its driving slightly funny too..  :undecided:

I suppose when I think that getting the rear bumper on my ED30 replaced (whole thing), sprayed and fitted was £1200 then what you've mentioned above might cost more than £5830... especially if theres suspension / steering damage.

I'll go for £6450 + VAT then!

Those Alfa 156 2.4 JTD's are FWD not RWD.  Learn this now, or you'll end up trying to rwd power drift round a corner and end up fwd understeering into a transit van or something.

thats the funny thing... its got so little power its almost impossible to tell.... i just assumed the huge lump thing running through the middle was the drive train.

I'd have thought driving it in the snow with the wheels spinning would have been easy to work out whether its FWD or RWD!
I was driving my fiance's BMW today in the snow (we only have about 2") and it was great fun.  I had to take the DTC off to get out of the car park, but cornering in non gritted side streets was comical!
