acc or leather

I tested a car with leather and it was nice, but then i wanted the ACC and so went to take a look at a car with the standard Cloth. I liked the cloth especially as leather is £1730 so i'm sticking with the cloth and getting more extras and i don't think i'll regret it.
You can get ACC and have £1000 spare to spend on more extras! Xenon lights look great £1000 ish !

Leather for me is a total waste of money - but I'm speccing it because the R seats look like they'll get in a total state with their white bits.  I really grudge £1700 for it - but its better than the seats being ruined after a few months.
I had half and half on my ED30 and that was perfect.  The heat comes through the cloth instantly and wams you up a treat.  The leather bolsters keep their shape better than cloth ones.  Winner all round.  Plus you still got leather door cards / armrest etc.

Its just a shame VW are too tight to put leather in the R as standard and make the Recarro's a £1700 option like the S3.

On the original topic though...

In a GTI I would take ACC and heated seats over leather.  I wouldn't live without heated seats anymore!!

Yup - it was standard in the ED30.
Cloth GTI style tartan middles (where your bum / back go!) and grey leather bolsters / headrest.
The best of both worlds in my opinion... never hot or cold on sunny / cold days, and the leather bolsters didn't sag.

I agree the best of both worlds with the part leather in the edition 30.
The GTI option im not as big a fan of the leather/artificial leather as it makes the interior even darker its like a coal mine in there does make it smell better. I just hope its better than the mk5s and does not go as shiny with time.

Heated cloth is the most ridiculous thing ever.   

Infact, I'm telling lies, its not. It's speccing DSG in a Golf GTI.

I specified heated cloth + ACC and don't regret it at all. Leather is expensive, slippery, freezing cold in the winter, scalding hot in the sun and it cracks with age (I'm speaking from experience). The ACC provides much needed comfort on 'family trips'; standard suspension is way too firm for my liking.

By the way the heated cloth seats are just brilliant this time of year, they heat up much quicker than the leather and warm you straight away. Sooo cosy.
