Is 140k miles too many? >> Bora TDi
« on: 13 December 2009, 16:17 »
been offered the chance of a cheap '00 Bora Sport TDi. Its the 115bhp with 6spd box. 2 owners, near full history, totally oringinal but has 140k on the clocks.

Not being that genned up on my derv's, is this something to worry about and what likely problems will there be/due to be?

Also what do you guys reckon is a decent price for it?

cheers, Chris

as long as all the bits have been replaced at the correct intervals then it should be good for a fair few miles yet

With that sort of mileage check out the suspension side of things as bushes / shocks etc may well be past their best and will need replacing

Also check for smoke upon start up and on driving.  White / blue smoke means its burning oil.  You'll see some black smoke but it shouldn't be excessive.  If it is it most likely has a boost leak which are common and fairly easy to sort

I'd say about £2500 might be a good price for it

How much is it up for?

cheers for the reply Rhyso,

Its more the engine side of things I was bothered about really, as if I get it I will be changing to coilovers and changing bushes etc.

I can have it for £1.5k.

Like I said, not really clued up on the new VW Tdi motors so just wanted to get some feedback from those that know.

cheers again,

Chris.

bargain at that price :afro:

Don't forget a clutch test - stick it in 4th @ 30mph and plant your foot; that will soon show up a weak clutch
