Would the 2.0GTI to the 1.8 non turbo be a hard engine swap. Obv i would love the 1.8T but i aint got the money. Theres one going cheap with low miles thats why i ask. Cheers.

if your 2.0l is running ok then why would you want to? Waste of time and funds imo, just nos the 2.0l  :cool:

Shes alright just high mile and the 1.8 is going cheap as chips.

there will be a load of other expenses you'll come across during your conversion though and i don't think it would be worth the hassle mate, i know its probably not what you want to hear but you'd be better off selling the 2.0l and just buying a 1.8t...

I don't know exactly whats involved in a 2.0l-1.8l conversion but i've been involved in few different engine swaps in over the years and it's never as simple and cheap as undoing a few bolts and doing doing them back up again...

it ain't difficult but its not just the engine you have to consider

Drivershafts, anti-roll bar and a few other bits are different on the 2.0

If you're going to do the conversion you're much better off getting a complete donor car so that way you have everything to hand  :smiley:

Yeah cheers for the advise guys. Been looking at a few 1.8T today and theres some bargins about so saving and selling a rekon. Someone else can make the wrong choice and buy a 2.0 gti lol.
