I got a Vag com cable and the free edition of the prog(4.09??) the other day from Ebay and was wondering should i be able to access the Central Locking system ? (1999 1.8T AGU, GTi). I get quite a few no communication issues could this be due to the fact that i have the free version?
I have read my engine codes cleared them out and the Temp sensor keeps coming back, checked the plug all looks ok so prob sensor.
Checked and cleared out my airbag codes so all good there.

If I can be of help to anyone local who needs a code read or cleared then give me a shout happy to help out where i can, but i only have the FREE version :afro:

Ive got a work around to get my vagcom registered but what else can i do over the shareware edition?

which module number is it you're trying to access??

Off the top of my head its module 46 which is for the central locking system etc i.e where fault codes for door modules are located if you're having problems

cool - I know there are two modules which is dependant on if you got just normal central locking or remote central locking  :nerd:  Obviously it fails if you try to access the one you don't have

I've got a work round to get my Vagcom registered but what does an activated copy allow you to do over a non registered copy?  :undecided:

I realise on my other post it states you need to register to decode all DTC's.
But i cleared out those codes before i got my work around.
So is there something i can do to test its working as a registered version????
Cheers

Is vag-tacho just a piece of software once you have your vagcom cable ??
