My first tankful is almost empty now and the MFD is showing a combined figure of 28.7MPG (I changed from l/100km in the display, which is nice of VW to provide!) But my recent journey, doing constant 70mph has shown 40MPG on the average, but drops quickly to about 34MPG in 15mins of stop/start traffic.
Hope it gets better with time, but the car is great! I was also told by the dealer here that the engine is fully prepared and run in so you do not need to take it easy for the first 1000 miles or so...awesome!
