Removing Windscreen
« on: 11 October 2004, 17:12 »
I have a few areas of bodywork to do around the rubber seal that is round the windscreen.

Just wondering if anyone knows how easy it is to remove and replace the windscreen.

Thanks
Andy.

duno how to take it out but if you have a stone chip then there are chances of it to crack.

if it does then just claim it on insurance. 50 quid and you have a top tinted one 8)

its an absolute mission getting it out without cutting the rubber seal so i would buy a new seal and cut the old one to save a lot of time and hassle,

getting it in is easy, put the seal around the windscreen when its off and get a long length of fairly thick string and feed this into the rubber seal where it would locate on the car boy shell, (make the string come out and meet at the bottom of windscreen) then place it against the car in position, get a mate to push the windscreen against the car. then get inside and pull the string against the seal, this should pull the rubber over the metal but you might need to persuade it to start. do this to the corners and give the windscreen a push from the top to make sure its located nicely and then just pull the string out slowly until the seal is on.

hope this helps :D

and you might as well waxoil when the windscreen is off ;)
