HI.....I JUST BOUGHT A TDI
« on: 04 December 2009, 18:51 »
Just bought a GT TDI for £1000

no when taxing it the websites are seeing it as a GT TDI 110, is the 110 in reference to the bhp?

would like to know what model it is and what to expect to go wrong with it as ive bought it as my daily...

any info on the specs?

Welcome to the club mate, that is a cracking price mate.

The 110 yes your right is ref to the bhp.

What's the mileage and service history? That way you'll get better info on what might go wrong or what may need doing if it's not already been done.

for a £1000 you cant expect everything to be great
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

As long as these niggly things aren't too costly you should be ok.

indeed, i think i had the mpg setting on average so it was changing all the time,

i did notice when overtaking someone in 4th i gave it some beans and the acceleration backed off at about 5000rpm, is that the turbo backing down?.....

turbo driving is new to me, as i found out at the lights the other day, i tried to pull away like i was in my 2.sl0w mk3, and the car jolted & shuddered, although i may have even been in the wrong gear as it was the morning after i bought it

5000rpm is the red line lol - all useful power was done and dusted at 3k rpm  - you need a remap to get it pulling clean up to 5K

really need to be in 1st gear from a standstill - turbo won't spool until at least 1500rpm and max torque will be 1800rpm.  Took me a couple of days to adjust my driving style when i first got mine - now I just don't brake and drive into tiny gaps

apparently it was remapped, or chipped..... to be honest its been bought as a daily for a 70 mile daily commute, so im not too bothered about having more ponies out of it..... at the moment just happy to be a part of the flicky key crew

i did source new door lock mechanizms (or replacement ones from an eBay scrappie) and all the cables & door pins, & exterior door handles for £60 ALL IN, so a job for this sunday.........

is reflex silver the most common?..... i think thats what it is
