Ipod lead?
« on: 02 December 2009, 22:21 »
Sorry to ask a question thats prob been asked several times before.

Picked up my GTD today.

The lead that is supplied and plugged into the mdi has a usb connection at the loose end. How do I connect my ipod, do I need another mdi lead?

Cheers in advance for any help

Well you can use your USB lead that came with your ipod but there is a specific ipod lead.

You need to ask the dealer for the iPod led when you pick up the car.  (They used to charge £15 for it but I think most deaers were giving them away anyway and they took the price ticket off.)  Fortunately I remembered when I was picking up my car, and my dealer just said, OK, I'll just go get you one.  Otherwise I'd be stuck with the USB thing as well.

Go back and ask for one.

Rolfe.

Cheers Rolfe, would be good to do that but the dealer delivered the car from 200 miles away

I guess I better drop in to my local VW Stealer tomoz and beg/pay for one

Thanks for the help

That doesn't work for me either Gossa. The actual ipod lead direct into the MDI operates the ipod fine but if I plug my usb ipod lead into the usb lead that is in the mdi then the ipod isn't recognised for some strange reason.

Get them to post it to you. Why should you have to pay for it? Although it comes free with the car, it is meant to be ordered by the dealer so. So going to another dealer may actually cost them as they haven't ordered it as part of a car if you know what I mean.

Phone the original dealer first.  It would fit in a small jiffy-bag as p3asa says.  I don't think it's any sort of a big deal.  I had mentioned it to my dealer at an early stage in the proceedings, but he hadn't taken any note of it and there wasn't one in the car when he handed it over.  I mentioned it, and he didn't demur at all, he simply went and fetched one from Parts.  I got the impression this was so easy he wouldn't have bothered to make a point of having it pre-ordered.

I reckon they'll post one to you without a murmur.

Rolfe.

Part of the standard spec, dealer has not done the pdi correctly. Ask dealer to send you one and an apology.
