This isn't standard wear and tear, the belt was replaced < 5,000 miles ago, and my mum isn't a racer of any sort!

Well, she don't have an excess, so she's probably better off driving the car until it breaks then making the insurance pay the repairs as it would be classed as an accident?!

i think your barking up the wrong tree budy...

your getting confused between warranty and insurance.

2 completeley different things.

the cars servicig is your responsibilty and thats it really if you have a car you should expect to pay for these items as they are wear and tear items.

get them to take car to garage that should be coverd on your breakdown then your mum will have to pay for new belt to be fitted.

p.s are you sure its timing belt and not just an aux belt big difference in these

I've used Autoaid for years. [you get a garage type to recover your car, you pay them then claim back from Autoaid].

Heard that dreaded cambelt 'noise' one dark night on the M6. Pulled over at one of the Emregency boxes and a recovery truck was sent who towed me home. Local garage came next afternoon and sorted cambelt and claimed off Autoaid the recovery; job done!.

Advice - never trust a woman to describe whats wrong with her car!

I went today, and it was indeed the fan belt that was at fault!

Fixed in 10 mins.

Thanks for the advice anyway guys :-)
