expansion tank max and minimum levels......
« on: 09 October 2004, 17:03 »
the water level in the vr6 was  a few cms under the minimum level and i said while i start it up after doing the radiator..... as it seems to have a leak but its stopped.........

i said i'll top it up but at the moment it makes no difference to the engine if it was nearly empty or at maximum..... and my dad says they put them there for a reason and i said because people are thick so they just keep it above minimum level......... he said it may air lock etc.........
i said it wont as its self bleeding and we filled it up throught the expension tank from empty anyway!

he said well you dont let the oil goes below minimum and i said thats totaly different to the water!

basicly i said it doesnt do harm or damage to let the water goes below minimum as long as the bottle doesnt go empty even then it doesnt doo much! unless it all drains out of the engine i said the warning light doesnt come on until the bottle is empty!

where as he thinks the max and minimum water levels affect the engine!

can anyone give there views on this!

i know about theses things..........

i know you have to check the oil on a porsche 911 by the dipstick with the engine running!

not many people know that!

am i right or am i wrong!
