Greenlight - forum sponsor - introduction
« on: 27 November 2009, 14:05 »
Greenlight Insurance are now sponsoring the forum :)

Tony from Greenlight is a true VW enthusiast having owned a variety of GTI's over the years. He will provide a bit of information about the company below and how they are happy to be involved with GolfGTI.co.uk.

For your factory fresh unmodified GTI, perhaps more 'everyday' insurers have their place. As soon as you start modifying your car or have something even slightly more valuable than average you need an insurer who not only knows what you are talking about but will also provide the right level of cover. Greenlight have been around the VW scene for a long time - I don't remember not seeing their advert in PVW magazine going back years!! I expect Greenlight to be a very useful and relevant addition to the site :)

Since our launch in early 1996, Greenlight have always sought to support car enthusiasts in any way we could and traditional owners clubs, forums and tuners are an excellent way of doing so.

I’ll try not to make this too much of an epic, but wanted to give those of you that don’t know or haven’t used Greenlight before some decent background knowledge.

Relevant specialist vehicle policy benefits
As an Insurance provider we are a performance car specialist, we can cater for standard or modified performance cars and our policy features along with premiums and terms reflect this. The added value benefits that we are able to offer in addition to the traditional benefits found within a standard private car policy are as follows:

Modification wise, we have extensive technical knowledge & can cover pretty much any modification (inc. nitrous oxide, Ecu/remaps, roll cages).

1) 'Like for Like' replacement of modified parts for repairable incidents

2) On Track cover for your vehicle is available as a per-event add-on option under our specialist vehicle scheme

These are some of the key benefits that are offered within our existing schemes, which (unlike most specialist vehicle providers) in addition to England, Scotland & Wales our schemes also extend to cover the province of Northern Ireland.

Strong technical knowledge
To elaborate as to who we are, Greenlight are an FSA Authorised & Regulated specialist vehicle Insurance provider. We were established in March 1996 to purely offer cover to performance, modified, custom and kit built vehicles.

Our staff possess a high level of technical knowledge in terms of performance vehicles & the modifications that can be carried out to each respective vehicle, we have a pedigree within this area of the market.

You may have encountered our advertising which has been ever present within the traditional performance vehicle media for well over a decade now.

In addition, we have forged long term relationships with selected owners clubs & affinity groups, the nature of the relationships range from national day funding & sponsorship to advice upon Insurance matters, or concessionary Insurance schemes available to members. Our alliances are usually long term and most of these have been in place for the best part of the last decade.

Owners club and Forum support
Our involvement with most forums and owners clubs that we currently deal with has been in place for many years, we adopt a long term approach and the premium rating for both Golfgtiforum.co.uk and Club Gti (for those of you that are members) will continue to be driven by the specific claims performance of fellow Club members.

Our staff are able to maintain a vigil upon Golfgtiforum.co.uk with a view to offering qualified relevant impartial advice and support to members (whether they are covered with us or not) in respect of Insurance related queries or questions. But to do so will need your permission first.

Underwriting acceptance criteria
(Performance vehicles, or Modified Cars)
1. Drivers must be aged 21-65
2. Underwriters require policyholders to have at least 1 year’s actual NCB in their own name
3. Drivers aged 21-22 with only 1 year's NCB will always require proven driving experience of a high performance car (in their own name)
3. Drivers must have held a Full UK License for at least 1 year
4. Vehicle must be a performance model, or extensively modified standard vehicle

Like all Insurance providers, our ethos is based upon certain beliefs and as such we cannot be all things to all men. Whilst we will look to provide the best possible deal that we can source for as many of you as possible, inevitably there will be risk profiles that are outside of our criteria and we will be unable to assist upon these occasions.

Members are clearly free to choose where and with who they purchase cover, we never insist upon exclusivity and are happy to complement members existing arrangements. We will simply be an additional option to any other arrangements that members have in place.

We will back our position whenever declining individual risks with factual direct answers as to why we were unable to assist, which from the profile of your membership along with what we have seen post wise on Golfgtiforum.co.uk our direct approach will hopefully fit in with most members.

You will find that we trade with integrity and will always offer our best terms/price first time, no chin scratching, ummm..ing, arrrr...ing and no haggling required. You know where you stand this way and it saves both parties any hassle or embarrassment.

Classic’s and Modified Retro schemes
These products are for drivers that have 2nd cars in addition to their everyday road cars.

Rating is extremely competitive for both classic (unmodified) and lightly modified retro cars, but cover will need to be on a limited mileage basis to qualify under these schemes as they are aimed at low exposure 2nd cars from the late 70’s through to early 90’s.

Pride as an Underwriting factor
The profile of the performance and modified car driver really is very good, there is always a pride in their vehicle, which leads to a high level of car care that represents a great moral risk.

Owners of these vehicle’s always maintain their vehicle in the highest order and are far more cautious than regular motorists as to where they park their vehicle whilst out, or during the course of a journey.

Conclusion
Both Owners clubs and Forums by their very nature are formed by people with common views and interests, along with the benefit of the membership at large. What we offer in terms of Insurance is a relevant service that pretty much every one of the members of Golfgtiforum.co.uk will need at some time throughout the year.

In order to summarise what we offer to you (the membership at large), I have bullet pointed below what we consider as the factors that make us stand out from mainstream Insurance providers:

1. Specific rating structure - tracked, assessed and influenced by the claims performance of members (premium collected vs expenses paid)

2. Relevant policy benefits (listed above) - aimed at enthusiasts & specialist vehicle owners

3. Staff have good technical knowledge in respect of performance cars & vehicle enhancements or modifications

4. Forum support by one of our technicians maintaining a daily (mon-fri) vigil upon Golfgtiforum.co.uk with a view to offering qualified technical Insurance related advice to members whenever required

The level of your concessions and cover features will evolve, then fluctuate dependent upon the growth or success of the scheme. A combination of claims performance of members and support of Greenlight’s scheme are factors which will directly influence the premiums charged or terms provided.

Thank you for listening, we hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards

That was really fast had a text on my phone within minutes. Guessing people are still in the office. If I put my Dad who also drives the car from time to time, would this lower it. I also put it down as 3 years incase Frizzel dont come through.

Not a bad qoute either, saying all my last ones where with 4 years NCB.

I asked for the qoute to be started on the 8th December meaning I would be one year older than the present date will this of been taken into the equasion as well?

Hi Gav,

That's great, look forward to hearing from you   we'll even call Frizells to confirm NCB for you if it's not been sorted out until then

Just to let you know, new quote applications aren't too onerous but will need to be made via our website at www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk .

Once the initial application has been made you will receive a confirmed quotation and SMS/text (that will be valid for 21 days) containing detail of the best offer that we could source for you.

You can enter detail of any modifications to your vehicle upon the application (these will be covered under like for like replacement cover in event of damage/theft of individual parts).

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Gav,

Putting it down as 3 years NCB sounds like the smart choice, just in case you don't get the 4th year.

We will probably be able to include Dad for free, but it's unlikely your dad would lower the quotation. This is due to most of our scheme rate upon the highest rated driver, which tends to be the youngest driver.

Having a policy on (or as soon as possible after) your birthday is definitely the way to go, this way you will receive the maximum discount for your age. If you asked for the quotation to be calculated from your birthdate it will almost certainly have been worked out on this basis, but if you can PM me your actual name, date of birth & postcode (being a cautious Insurance type guy) i'll double check to make sure.

Finally, many thanks for the feedback and glad you liked the quotation

Kind regards

Tony
