Tyre Scuffing..

Hi, new to all this forum stuff. Just got myself an mk5 5 door in tornado red. First GTI I've had and loving it. Only problem I've had is tyres scuffing when hitting a bump. They are non standard 18" RS6 style wheels. Has anyone had a similar problem??

Got edition 30 alloys on my GTI & no problems with them.I think it's down to the replica wheels you have & they proberley have the wrong offset.Hi by the way.

What are they rubbing on? The wheel arch, wheelarch liner or upright?

I think they might be touching the edge of the arch or the liner, its hard to tell to be honest, the car hasn't been lowered so a bit miffed to be honest.
might just have to buy some new wheels

It ain't hard to tell
Get your head in there with a torch, it will be quite apparent by the fresh scuff marks
Then decide if it a major issue of just needs some material removing, depending on whats touching

What sized bumps? Is it all bumps? Or is it if you drive over speed bumps at, say, 50 mph?

I have the 19" rs6 alloys along with lowering springs on mine. I've never had any scuffing. You should get a garage to look at that i think.
