Little Exhaust Query

Evening all,

Have a quick question regarding the center section of the exhaust system. Had my MOT today, she passed but got a couple of advises (Pinhole in the Inner CV boot) and one about the center exhaust. Had MOT done at work (Toyota) and spoke to the tech that did the MOT, now he pointed out the advises to me and the exhaust one bemused me a little. Anyway onto the question..

Around the center section of the exhaust system, there is a \__/ shaped bracket that the center section pipe sits in quite loosely I might add. Now he pointed out that he thought that the center pipe should be tacked or welded to this bracket to stop the exhaust system from moving around. Can anyone confirm that the exhaust should be welded to the bracket as there appears to be no sign of any previous weld/tack.

Yes it should be

Quite common place to brake, just get it re-welded

I'll get it tacked tomorrow then.. thought it was a bit of an odd one, because there is quite a bit of movement in the system, but no previous sign of any weld on either the bracket or the center pipe. Cheers for the heads up

Ah nice one ill keep a look out when I come down to pick up cars from there that are going to the branch I work at

mine's be broken at the same point for the last 3 years and it doesn't rattle 

Never been mentioned during my MOT either
