Would a faulty starter motor give a laboured start-up?
« on: 17 November 2009, 19:44 »
Hi Everyone,

Fitted new engine at weekend to mk4 golf 1.6s the refitting included new plugs,h/t leads checked also fitted another coil pack!. The car is fairly difficult to start and is laboured but gets there in the end. I also seem to be getting a noise from the starter motor sticky solenoid I think from previous posts. Would this laboured start be down to the starter motor possibly? Battery if fine, have not checked earth lead/fan belt and wiring to starter motor was obviously checked when replaced at weekend!

I am baffled!! once started car if fine!!!

Any help would be welcomed!!!

Have you done a Voltage drop test on the battery? Cell gone in the battery?
