Cleaning cvs

Molly grease is f**king horrible, i hate doing cv's, the stuff goes everywhere.
Grease is also like oil, it breaks down and won't do its job properly.

yup i hate that about cv's to, pick a drive shaft up and withing 30 seconds you've got patches of manky grease everywhere

I used to work as a tyre fitter and whenever cv boots needed doing it was allways my job. 
Done loads but never actually split the joint, i allways used a cone with the boot inside out method and a pack of cv grease to slip it on. Dirty job even with gloves on.

if you take the joint apart there is a knack to putting them back together,

pushing them in and out normaly sufices to be abel to clean them out,  if the joint feels really loose and falls apart it a good sing there worn so best of replaceing those ones

I've always found cv joints quite loose without the grease, its amazing how much play the grease seems to take up.

sopose should have clarifyed just how loose i meant ( thats a bit tricky to o tho )     it is amazing just how thick a grease fil actualy is.  ive had some joints that were quiet on the car but felt much looser than newer joints to the point the inner section happily rotates round and most of the balls promtly fall out on the floor

how easy is it with using the cone? can this work on mk2's?
im not wanting to take them apart again

works on anything i think. with the cone you just turn the boot inside out and slide it on. takes bit of welly and grip but normally goes on in one go. i got mine from partco and you get a wax spray although i found out you can slip it on with a pack of grease.
