should be some juddering as you load the turbo but its normally the quickest way to tell if the clutch is slipping - your revs will rise but you won't pick up speed

There are plenty about though so if you get a chance test drive a few; I drove about half a dozen before deciding on my car :afro:  The difference between some was unreal!!

Well i jumped into buying my mk3.  There are alot better examples on the road.  But as i hadnt owed a car for over a yr (due to starting uni) i was getting down about not driving, as i love it so much.  Ended up buying the first one i sat in.  Not willing to do that again, so ill just sit and wait.  Although its bloody hard not to. (m sure its not just me)

Yeah mate it's deffo not just you, I recently bought a plum aswell, I had to cough up about £675 on the car :(
Had the timing belt, waterpump, tensioner, the Cat, rear disks and pads, service, and some other stuff.

I coughed up the expenses as I wanted to keep the car for some time, then my brother decides to sell his golf GT TDi 130 with some extra goodies so i sold the Golf I had just done work on, to get my brothers as he had really looked after the car and the clutch and flywheel had been replaced £800 jobbie.

Also the other thing is that the fooker that sold me the previous car had it advertised as a GT TDi 130 PD, the sticker in the boot tied up with being a 130 but when I got it insured the next day it turned out to be an SE :(:(:(
My local VW specialist also confirmed this for me and the guy who I bought it off wouldn't do fook all for me and wouldn't take the car back :(

Just be carefull mate, also i'm sure my fiasco isn't that common but just thought i'd give you the heads up of a possible scenario.

Do the stickers in the boot just give you a code which you then have to work out or the complete info on what spec the car is ?

they give you a list of codes.  They include what is standard and what was specced.

There was a website kicking around which gave you a breakdown of what each code meant  :undecided:
