Headlamp washers?
« on: 16 November 2009, 01:39 »
Picked up my car on Thursday, I have the winter pack fitted and noticed that I have two painted bumper caps in my passenger door pocket? Has anyone got these with there car or have any idea why I would?

Do you have bumper caps on your headlamp washers? If no, those are yours.
Are your bumper caps damaged - if yes, these might be replacements which the dealer forgot to fit.
Are your bumper caps fitted and in as-new condition? If yes, those in your door pocket belong to some poor bugger who's having to wait another week before he can get his new GTI!

The caps are the same profile as the headlamp washers and I assume would fit the bumper if it didn't have headlamp washers. I obviously have no use for them so cant understand how I ended up with them?

Just one tip, when you do use them, make sure your not at a standstill, its like a force 5 hurricane which of course washes your headlights, but also washes your full car  I only use mine when I'm driving fast.

It's quite easy to be caught out, as the headlamp washers operate every 5th time you use the windscreen wash/wipe. Poor pensioner standing at the traffic lights the other day just about had a heart attack when mine operated.......

I had some headlamp washers on an old Fiesta Supersport [remember them in 1991??].

It wasn't the blast from the jet that alarmed people, rather the ultra loud buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing from the washer motor that seemed to make people turnaround.

Great car ... in its day!
