How a BBS wheel refurb should look!
« on: 15 November 2009, 13:16 »
Had these BBS RA's done recently (to sell later) by Lepson's. I've had a few wheel refurb jobs done before and looked at lots of ones on other peoples cars, but I've not seen many better than this! They look just like brand new wheels-just look at the back side of the wheels in the pics! Most places can get a good finish on the front face, but the insides of the spokes are kinda bumpy or even look a bit 'dry' on the inside of the spokes. They are not the cheapest, but I guess this is on of those occasions when you get what you pay for! (The red and black tape is just electrical tape to protect the rims until they are fitted on a car)

Will be selling them soon!

They cost £50+VAT per wheel to do. Will be selling them for £350 with brand new original BBS centre caps as in some of the pics. I know it isn't cheap, but they look just like brand new ones and how much do decent sets of wheels cost now? They are a fraction of the cost that new ones at GPC cost. Also when you work out what the cost of the refurb was, the cost of a decent unbent set of RA's and new original centre caps then its not so bad.

It looks like the wheels were painted base grey first, this gives the wheels a smooth finish, especially round the spokes, then finished off with a couple of light coats of silver basecoat, then lacquer, this is pretty much how they would have been done by the factory... nice job
Thom

Yeah, they say that they do them the same way as they were originally done in the factory and also use original factory paints.
