Anyone bought a bootliner?
« on: 15 November 2009, 11:52 »
I recently bought an ex-demo 3 door GTI in white, having sold my Scirocco.I had intended waiting for an R but decided it's just too much money.
Anyway,i'd bought a moulded bootliner for the Scirocco, which did save the carpet from the odd spill etc.,just wondered if anyone has bought anything similar for their Mk.6?

noj66, how do you find the 2 compare? I got rid of my Scirocco earlier on in the year - looking at a GTI for next year some time

Boot buddy boot liner, fab piece of kit comes right up the back of the back seat and up to the pieces of plastic that the shelf sits on.  It is a bit pricey but well worth it to keep the boot clean.

I've always had a bootliner of one sort or another just to make cleaning easier. Gizzy, can I ask does your boot buddy come up high enough to cover the back of the seat? One of our dogs tends to drool a bit when travelling and I'm considering a boot buddy to replace the low-tec towels in our estate car.

Yes, right up to the headrests on the back of the seat and right up to the parcel shelf brackets, it is black plastic and you can get a rubber piece to attach with velcro to fold down over the bumper to avoid dog claws on your nice plastic bumper.  try googling boot buddy and it should lead you to the site.

blackroc, I went from a roc to a gti and i gotta say I did it because of family matters. I bought the roc before my wife fell pregnant and I already have two kids! I test drove the GTI and was pretty underwhelmed in relation to the roc but went for it anyway as it ticked most boxes.

However on the weekend I collected it I realised it was a superior car as I drove up to GTI International show and on the road with lots of roundabouts I could feel that the Golf handled way better, much more poised and zero torque steer and understeer which were traits of the roc. I also realised it was just as quick but the Roc feels quicker because of it's frantic feel.

Now my GTI is mapped it's just at another level. Don't miss the roc one little bit......

Hiya Blackroc,my Scirocco was DSG and to honest all things being equal i'd have preferred a DSG Golf again(had the Mk5 GTI four years ago).
I'm really pleased with the new Golf though,it does feel much more 'grown up' and refined compared to the Scirocco. It also has loads of extras being a dealer demo, stuff i wouldn't have shelled out for from brand new.
It is surprisingly good fun to drive when you 'boot' it,but i'm currently on 9 points so i've set the speed warning buzzer to 80 and that's where it's staying 'til June!

Thanks gossa / noj66 - I know what you mean about the handling issues, and also I never felt the interior never matched the exterior as it was fairly standard mk5/EOS fair.
