Thnx, Snoopy - I'm pretty well there now - what's the xenon thing for you? Does it make the front of the car look different, a thousand quid different?!

AHHH!! Ya killing me!!!!

Have you been to a VW dealership and looked at all the options in the metal? What do YOU think of the Xenons? Do you live in an area where YOU would benefit from them? If not don't buy them unless YOU like the look of them or YOUR budget is flexible.

Like Rolfe says, ask as many q's as you need and we are all here to help but it sounds like you're either extremely indecisive or you haven't been and had a good look at the cars? Like Snoop says, make a list.

I'm different to most people, I went to the dealership in June and asked what cars were built and ready to go within a week and I took my choice from what was there. Did I get everything I wanted if I had sat and made a list? No but I have added that since (RCD510) but I realise there aren't as many cars built and ready now. If I was speccing and waiting I would have gone for Xenons as I do a lot of driving late at night on country roads but none had xenons so I just upgraded my bulbs, not as good but good enough.

No but i live in the the middle of the coutryside miles from anywere, in the wet north so i spend alot of time on small rural unlit roads each week. I also spend alot of my weekends traveling up and down the country for one of my hobbies so spend alot of time on unlit motorways. One of the only must haves on my list for my mk6 thats not on our mk5 was headlamp washers, the lights get far too dirty far too quickly and reduce visability on our mk5 imo. Our mk5 has ok lights since i changed the bulbs but i decided to go that extra step after using cars from work that have xenons. Its the only option in the end i went for though except metallic paint and 5doors.

Thnx - gossa, you right - I've had 3 test drives, 2 DSG, 1 manual - but it is all personal - I remember one time when I was thinking of a new car, loads of car mags etc and questions.....etc...saw Clarkson reviewing an RX8, I hadn't considered it, Clarkson loved it - I test drove it the next day and ordered it straight after the drive - that was surreal.

In all honesty I think every new car should come with xenons...I have a mk5 golf and have been wanting to retrofit the xenons for ages.  I managed to get hold of some and fitted them and the difference is really night and day and I think the mk6 is the same.

Xenons make the front of the car my last car was the new Focus ST225-spec2 and xenons where standards on that and they were excellent same has the R32 the R20 will probably have xenons has standards aswell.

It wont quite count for you yet cos your just buying your car but come resale time you will see the return on your xenons compared to a car without xenons.  Its what alot of people look for first these days

James, brill car those RX8's, if the oil and fuel consumption weren't so bad i might have bought one when I bought the scirocco.

So, tick Xenons off your list then, now we're getting somewhere!!!!!

Well, just for another point of view.

I live in the country and do a lot of driving on unlit country roads.  Every time I see a set of xenons coming towards me I want to take the driver, screw his head off, and stuff it down his windpipe.

I didn't spec them for my own car, funnily enough.

Rolfe.
