i would use the extra cash for the xenons (if you havent already), maybe go for the sunroof, but I would definately put aside £600 for a Sat Nav unit from fleabay!!

I haven't got any of them but had them all on my scirocco, don't miss any of them at all.

I'm not convinced the options make that much difference to the delivery time.

At the risk of being smacked for repeating this again, my 8th July order showed up as advertised 10 weeks later, and that included a sunroof.

I really like the sunroof, and I'd recommend it over ACC any time (I've got both).

Regarding the sunroof:
If you've got kids sitting in the back, I'd 100% get a sunroof.
IMO (based on test driving one with and one without on same day), the GTI mk6 has them tinted windows in the back, and the sunroof car let in a lot more might, the glass roof made a world of difference in terms of light. Our little test driver in the back pref'd with sunroof so we opt'd for one (also the light in the car did make it IMO a nicer place to be). In terms of drop in the hight of the roof, I'm 6' 2" and no problem there (our current mk5 has a sunroof and it was a no-brainer option for me). Dealer also added a lot of people with kids opting for the 5 doors car also spec the sunroof for the same reason which was interesting. It's made no difference to our delivery for 100% on for 1st March.

Sunroof and xenons,  ACC just a gimick if the gti suspension wasn't good enough already why spoil it for silly gimicky stuff...more things to go wrong

The xenons make the front of the car and they look awesome on the new golf with that little cowl over the top of the xenon.

I agree re the ACC. I couldn't really tell the difference about town or on motorway with ACC in comfort or normal (which is apparantly close to the normal GTI set-up). I asked for a car with and a car without to test as was considering changing my order.
However this was just my opinion, I was glad the dealer was able to get 2 cars for me to try against each other. I'd strongly recomend that if your able to, would then a least give you some direction (was comfort setting I was interested in vs the a "normal" GTI set-up car without ACC). I couldn't really tell the difference about town or on motorway, but each to their own.  Try before you buy

The ACC will feel the same in Normal and Comfort when you are bumbling around town at 30mph or cruising on a motorway because in Normal mode it is constantly adjusting the damping to suit - i.e. it's more than likely going to be selecting the more comfort-oriented settings in those conditions. Get it out on the open road and chuck it into some corners and then it'll firm up.

I'm sure the standard suspension presents a perfectly adequate compromise though and if you properly driven a car with and a car without, you can make an informed choice.

I read the golf's steering is speed dependent anyway and stiffens up the faster it goes.
I can certainly feel mine stiffen up if I'm belting along country roads and I don't have ACC.

Can someone explain whether a car with ACC, set to normal, is actually different from a car without ACC?  I didn't notice anything much about this in the VW literature - I thought the ACC just gave you the two extra settings.  However, several posts on this forum suggest it's not as simple as that.

The proper VW name for ACC is actually DCC - Dynamic Chassis Control - which gives you a better idea of what it is doing when it is left in Normal mode. Comfort obviously selects the softest setting on the dampers (and reduces the resistance in the steering at low speeds). Sport selects the hardest settings for greater body control and steering feel.

In Normal mode the system is actively adjusting the dampers (and steering) based on various things like steering angle, throttle position, suspension movement, body roll. It is not an 'average' setting, it is a constantly varying setting. So if you driving along the high street at 30mph it will be closer to or in comfort mode. If you are hurtling round a corner it'll be closer to or in sport mode. At other times it might be somewhere in between - maybe the average which you assumed.

My understanding of the standard non-ACC suspension is that the fixed-rate dampers are somewhere in between the sport and comfort 'limits' - i.e. the 'average' setting.
