ACC AND SUNROOF or Leather
« on: 13 November 2009, 13:07 »
me, again.

not having DSG so £1,300 better off  -  choices:

save the money

or

get leather (only about £1,300 because I'd be cancelling winter pack and that cost would be coming back to me -  just getting for seat heaters which come for 'free' with the leather)

or

ACC (note, very little motorway driving  -  some  -  mostly 'flat' suburban roads and around town

and/or

sunroof  -  does it really bring a noticeable difference into the look and feel of the car?

I just don't think my driving calls for me to have Xenons  -  not much night driving and, even when I do, it's motorway, not really country roads etc  -  otherwise, just around town.

Sat Nav is a waste of dosh  -  Tom Tom...

looks like save it or spend a bit on sunroof...?

I'd like a sunroof. I really like the novelty of my Mk2's sunroof.

But how long will you have to wait for a car to be built with one? Leather and ACC are "bolt on's" a sunroof may be a different matter.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

virtually ruled it out  -  'jac' cloth has the character, ages better than sagging, creased, perhaps ripped leather  -  the leather wont stand up to 'family life' useage as well as cloth  -  thnx for the opinion, anyway...

ACC and sunroof definitely. Sunroof makes the car bright and airy and allows a good throughput of air when you're not using A/C.

I'd think ACC would be a bonus for driving the family around town - I thought in normal and comfort modes it takes the edge of the hard suspension when you are potterng around.

I agree fully, the cabin at the back in particular is quite dark so the sunroof will give a little extra light to the 3 kids.

Don't touch leather, childrens shoe buckles come to mind, scratches and rips anyway the cloth looks the business.

Think you'd better go and order this car mate or something else will come into your head and you will never make up your mind.  Good luc James.

For me, in a luxo-barge leather is all but essential. In a hatch, not so much...

I'd go for the ACC and not bother with the sunroof.  :lipsrsealed:

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

I like the idea of a sunroof...I've had a couple over the years - and I like the extra light it lets in.
Having said that - I never used it on any of my cars!!!

ACC - I picked it, and most of my driving is around town.  The car as standard has sports suspension.  I want the option of going a bit softer for my trips back and forth to work on the pot hole roads.  Then when I want to hammer it, I'll set it to sport!

Leather - to me seems like a lot of money.  Cloth seats look good.  They don't have the same 'executive' feel - but so what... its not really an executive car.

Xenons - make a huge difference for night driving and look better in general.  £1000 better?!  Tough call really. My MK5 ones were £750ish, and I paid for them.  My R comes with them as standard - if it didn't I'd probably still buy them!

Sat Nav - get a second hand one off eBay for £500-600 and fit it yourself in 20 mins.  Not THAT expensive then, and looks much better than the standard offering!
