mk3 recaros in mk2??
« on: 12 November 2009, 22:46 »
iv tried searching, but theres not much info on recaros for mk3's,  im picking up some mk3 recaros tomorow, will the fronts fit the same as normal mk3 seats, ie heat and bend the rail in or cut and weld? i have a pair of corrado bases, could i do a base swap with these?
many thanks

yeah bend 1 of the legs or chop off and weld. only option on mk3 recaros as the frame is different. on normal mk3 seats you can swap on a mk2 base frame

I have mk3 recaros in mine, they seem ok, the back seat was a bit of a bodge unfortunatly but is on my to-do list

i have tried heating and bending the legs, hasnt worked for me and seems to much of a bodge, im goin to cut the subframe and re weld to suit the mk2 rails, also getting the bits needed for the back from vw as they list the middle securing and out brackets, jus got to find or borrow a mig welder

Instead of going to all that effort, work out the dimensions and find somone who makes gates and stuff (like me) in your area and give em a tenner to sort out the alignment. I know from my work that it would take about 15 min with little or no material costs
