Be careful

- If your can gateway is older than a L then you can end up with the flat battery
- You can also experience what the Germans call Regensburg syndrome where your RNS loses its GPS signal and so thinks its in Regensburg in Germany until it recalculates its position
- You can have problems with the Skoda bluetooth not working any longer if you have it fitted

The German forums are saying its only really for the new version C of the RNS

However the 32GB SDHC capacity, onscreen speed limit warning signs and voice control look pretty impressive

1200 is meant to be available, but no one can find a cd, but it only gives you the 32GB SDHC upgrade

Oh and if its not a totally legit unit you may brick it

how can you tell what version rns 510 you have. Mine was a factory fit and picked the car up in June 2008 if that helps. I can't seem to get into the testing menu by holding down the setup button either

Most probably a B version, they only real way to tell is to look at the label on the top, as firmware 1100 upgraded A versions to B versions (software wise). C version has just come out

VW have issued a document in Germany telling dealers to watch out for the leaked version of 2660. Customers can have that installed by the dealer if they want but all warranty will be void

2700 should be coming out soon, but its not clear if this will work on all A,B,C versions

Geez, all I want to do is use SDHC cards in the unit. This is worse than trying to figure out how to use Linux! Talk about entering the Geek Zone!

Firmware 1200 will do that if we can find a copy, or perhaps try your dealer

quick google search found me this:

http://www.my-gti.com/1694/volkswagen-rns-510-firmware-upgrade-to-version-1200-1202-1204-1206-1208

It seems if you have a pre MY2007 car it will drain your battery. I assume that MY2007 is the same as the registration date right?
