Why?
« on: 10 November 2009, 18:21 »
I feel sick, really sick.

Just found out my car has been keyed all along the passenger side.
Two nice deep scratches down to the primer on both doors and front wing.

Will Chipsaway or Halfords be able to sort this or is a dealer job (silly money no doubt)???

I've only had it seven weeks. Don't know where it was done,  I've not been anywhere dodgy, some jealous idiot no doubt.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear your pain. It is really unfortunate and I can understand how you feel. I think Chipsaway can reduce the effect. Hopefully its not too deep that it leaves an impression on the panel. I have had the office car scratched (vandalism) to the metal and because it was so deep and actually left an impression on the panel of a 5 point star, the re-spray did not completely hide the damage as when you look at it at an angle, you can still see the impression.

I wish you all the best and hope the damage is not that bad...

Thanks for the replies.  Nice to know there are plenty of decent people out there.

It's a real sickener but that's life I'm afraid. At the end of the day it's only a car and it can be sorted.

I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow, I've just had another look in the dark and rain and the scratches are actually down to the metal, I'm not totally confident about Chipsaway/Halfords/local body repair being able to sort it, at the moment I'm considering getting the dealer to do it as an insurance claim.

Has anyone got any experience of doing this? I have no claims protection and have no claims over the last 5 years.

I'm guessing but Chipsaway etc  circa £200.   Dealer circa £800-£1000 as they'll do the whole panels.

It's a new car in mint condition, what would you guys/gals do???
