RNS 510 not communicating with highline
« on: 09 November 2009, 11:20 »
Recently had an audio company install the rns 510 sat nav into my edition 30 however it isnt interacting with
the highline computer. Shouldnt the highline computer show directions on it?
can anybody tell me whether this requires vagcom?

Also i had the front speakers upgraded which sound great however i think they may be wired wrong because the front
speakers now only work when the ignition is on. Whereas the rear speakers continue working until the key is removed.
Im a noob when it comes to audio so before i complain to the company that installed it, could anyone shed any light on
why this is happening?

Thanks

Has the satnav been coded in (ie does the car know it's there)?

You'll need VAG COM or you can take it to a VW dealer and they will do it for you.

Basically you just need to 'tell' the car that sat nav is fitted and it will unlock the functionality of the sat nav display on the highline.

Thanks for the help car booked in for a service at vw this saturday.

With regards to the front speaker question, have they have been wired in differently to the rear speakers.
The front speakers only work when the ignition is on, whereas the rear speakers carry on working until the key has been removed.
Would this mean the front speakers have been wired directly into the ignition wiring?
