Did you spec ACC for your new car?
« on: 06 November 2009, 23:11 »
Hi.
Mix of reactions from dealers and people regarding if ACC is worth it or if everyone is or isn't specing it on their new cars (i.e must have option).
So thought I'd do a poll to find out.

Skip this if you read it before, but I got it because the car has to transport my elderly mother.  Anything to cure that annoying noise from the passenger seat of "oh, those awful bumps!"

The comfort does soften speed bumps a bit, but if you push on without changing out of comfort it feels ever so slightly nauseous.  To be honest, sometimes I'm not on the setting I think I am, and I can't necessarily tell without looking at the selector.

I'm still glad I have it for elderly parent, but I'm pretty sure I woudn't have specced it otherwise.  The ride in normal is very good.

Rolfe.

There's been a few threads now (including one by me) asking for peoples thoughts, but I thought I'd collate some stats on this in the form of a poll.

It's an impressive bit of kit from a tech point of view for £700. It will be interesting to see the results!

Yes I have it and admit I like it.  Although not huge, the differences are noticeable especially on bumpy roads.

This morning heading out across the partially frosty moors I had ACC in comfort mode and the heated seats on, what more can I say? exquisitely comfortable and the bonus of a nice warm bum!

Yup, I specced the ACC for the car since I wanted to see what kind of ride I could get from this add-on. I must say it was difficult for me to feel the difference when it was new. But now after driving the car for almost 5 months, I must say I can tell the difference and I am glad I have it. For most of the time its on comfort but when I am on the highway I put it on sport and it really make the difference, the steering wheel becomes tight, the car stiffens up and really feels planted at 160 - 200 km/h...

I've read that ACC is working all of the time regardless of which of the three settings your in.
'Normal' setting is active, when you push on the system will switch temporarily to 'Sport' and then back to 'Normal'; the system cant be turned on or off.

It was the difference between normal and comfort I was interested in. Struggled to feel the difference, normal car is excellent.
