New mk2 GTI owner.
« on: 06 November 2009, 21:46 »
Time to join the mk2 section me thinks.
I have just purchased a 1990 Golf Gti 8v and and mint Vr6 engine and loom..  So wait for all the questions as I aint got a clue when it comes to mk2s and Vr6 engines.

The "idea" is to build a car to enter next years Rally of the Midlands, as soon as I pass my BARS test at Silverstone I will be stripping the car down to shed some weight, and getting it to basic rally spec ready to give it my best shot next summer.   Once I have done the rally I would like to fit low comp pistons and turbo  kit.. and aim for some quickish 1/4 mile times.  And at the same time keeping the car on the road fully legal.

I will get pics up tomorrow.

Nick

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Yeah I have noticed alot of euro look vws around here. I have wanted to vr6 my mk2 for ages but I dont have the tools and know how to do it. Thought about doing a G60 conversion on it as it looks like it may be alot easier to do the swap. Cant seem to find a lump complete with charger though
