The way things are going I wouldn't be that surprised if the OPs GTI didn't arrive until nearly March anyway. I think I'd wait the couple of weeks personally for the newer plate. No point in buying a new car and having it look like a second hand one two weeks later!
I cannot believe the patience of you people waiting four months plus for a new car to arrive. I'd be petrified that someone would release something shinier and better in the meantime and I wouldn't be able to change my mind! I guess it gives you chance to save a few more pennies for the car but I really just couldn't be that patient. That's why I bought a hammered ex-demo!
