Reversing on a slope.....
« on: 06 November 2009, 09:48 »
Hi all,

I've kept the subject vague because it's a question about DSG. I'm not trying to start a war here, so please keep it to the subject.

I'm going to book myself in for a test drive so i can experience it first hand, but it's been playing on my mind and was hoping someone might be able to answer the question.

When reversing with DSG is the power (not sure how to put this) a bit less responsive, because it doesn't have a torque convertor? I have a garage which the driveway that is on a slope and i'm wondering if it would make an easy task a bit tricky? Or is it something you adjust to after time?

Thanks guys, i hope this doesn't start any arguments.

The Golf DSG comes with 'hill hold' like the A3 I drive. Its activated by pressing the brake firmly. As Jules says dont worry about it. VAG have thought it all through......

Thanks guys for your comments.

Is hill hold standard with DSG?

Yep, standard with DSG - and a worthwhile option on a manual if you live/work in a hilly area.

Strange, that was still an option after I specced up my DSG.  Is it defo std with the DSG?
