Best I can describe it is as if the brakes are rubbing at a certain point, as if warped. But I have checked them, and all seem fine. Perhaps a little worn, but otherwise good.
When I drive, there is a rythmic "dud dud dud dud", like the sound I would expect from a part hitting or rubbing another bit.
It changes with wheel rotation speed, but not engine revs as far as I can tell.
I can't feel any wobble when I apply the breaks slightly (as I have been told to check for warps)
Noticed a hole in one of the inner cv joint boots, could that be the cause? Know what an outer joint sounds like when it is gone, but this one doesn't move as much when going round corners, and it makes no difference to the sound.
Know I need to replace that, but want to make sure there is nothing else more serious and life threatening first
